Celtic In The Community

Welcome!

Celtic In The Community is Savannah Celtic’s way of giving back. We target schools in the local area and offer soccer instruction during physical education classes. The best part about this community program is the fact it is free to the school. Sessions are tailored to classes 1st grade through 8th grade and are based around having fun in a safe environment. The sport of soccer is promoted. We do not directly recruit players from this program. If a child is interested in signing up for Celtic soccer we will leave information for the PE teacher / school to pass along.

Not only is this program a benefit to the child, but also a benefit to the teacher. We understand Soccer is a relatively new sport in Savannah and many Physical Education teachers have little to no experience in teaching the game. Celtic In The Community helps to educate teachers on how to create a number of different soccer classes that are tailored to various school grades. We ensure schools purchase the right equipment for their soccer program and provide coach education material to increase knowledge of the sport.

CITC Teacher Feedback

"Keith Gunn with the Celtic Club of Savannah came to Bartow Elementary with a soccer clinic for grades Pre-Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th.  The students enjoyed his lessons and were very excited to share the sport of soccer with him.  He spent forty minute sessions teaching the students different ways to control a soccer ball with six parts of the foot.  He used modified games to help students learn basic soccer skills.  Bartow’s physical education teacher, Ms. Shirley Smith would love to have him come back to accommodate the entire school."

"Coach Keith from the Savannah Celtic soccer club came to Charles Ellis to instruct the 2nd and 3rd graders in soccer skills. He has a compassionate way with the students and knows how to explain what he wants them to accomplish. To my amazement they were able to do what he expected of them. The next class period the students wanted Coach Keith to play more soccer games. The students were enthralled with Coach Keith and loved the games he played with them. I would want my son to play for Coach Keith if he was not already in college."
