Tryouts
WHY TRYOUT
Savannah Celtic FC conducts open tryouts at the end of each season for all of our YDP teams. These tryouts are only for the YDP teams which travel. Local, recreational teams do not require tryouts of any kind and are a great place for any soccer enthusiast to develop their skills and have a great time.
Selection to a team one year does not guarantee that player a place on the team the following year. Tryouts happen every season, and allow teams to replace players who have dropped off or who have moved on. Tryouts also allow hardworking and ambitious players, not currently with the Club, who have improved their playing ability, to join stronger or more competitive teams in Savannah Celtic FC. Tryouts are successful if players and teams are sorted out so that every player eventually finds a team that has a training and competitive plan that fits the player’s interests and needs, with a budget and time commitment that matches the parent’s willingness to support the player.
INFORMATION
Savannah Celtic FC will be holding tryouts for our U8 to U12 YDP teams during the last week of May. Mark your calendar and save the dates — May 29th, 30th, and 31st. They will run from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Brooks Complex Soccer Fields on Wilmington Island (Between Concorde Rd & Johnny Mercer Blvd).
Savannah Celtic FC will be holding tryouts for our U13+ SELECT YDP teams during the first week of June. Mark your calendar and save the dates — June 5th, 6th, and 7th. They will run from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Jennifer Ross Soccer Complex on Fields 1 and 2..
COST
The cost is $10 for a Tryout T-Shirt. If you have tried out in the past, simply ‘de-select’ the SHIRT option during registration and you will not be charged anything. If you have not tried out with us before, or lost (or outgrew) your previous shirt, we will need to get you one, and the fee for that shirt is $10.
